So my fiancé has been bugging me for a while now to tell him how I prep our burgers. He knows one ingredient is cheese, but he has not been able to figure out the rest so I am finally putting it all out there and adding a new ingredient to these bad boys (bacon) to make the truly the BEST BURGERS EVER!!!
We like to eat a lot so I start off with an amount that will make about 15 burgers.
2 lbs ground beef (90/10)
½ package of bacon (classic is fine)
3 cups shredded cheese ( I used a smoked Vermont white cheddar, but most any cheese will work ( hard cheese works best)
2 tablespoons Onion flakes
1 tablespoon Garlic powder
2 tablespoons salt and pepper mix (I use McCormic Grill Mates Montreal Steak)
2 tablespoons of A.1. Dry Rub Bold Original
~Take your bacon and chop it up fine into small little pieces, and throw them all into a bowl with your ground beef. Make sure you try to separate all the bacon pieces because they will stick together.
~Then get ready to get your hands dirty because you use your hands to mix this all together. When its all mixed, create a bowl like shape with this meat concoction.
~Next take your spices and add them to the bowl. Fold the meat into itself and get all the spices mixed in well with the meat and then leave it flat.
~Take your cheese and shred it if you haven’t already. Then add it to the mixture little by little. Keep in mind
that the cheese will clump and create its onw little balls with makes for uneven burgers when you cook them so make sure to keep separating the cheese as you mix it all in.
~Next take a hand full of the mixture and flatten it out to your preferred burger size. (If you are using a high fat meat then your burgers will shrink so keep them big, and with low fat meet they will stay about the same size, so keep this in mind as you choose the patty size.)
~Cover, and let these patties sit for at least 8 hours (I let them sit almost 24) in fridge so as to allow all the flavors to mix together.
